Anti-Acne Facial Treatment

Not all acne is the same, but most of us have all dealt with some type of this condition at one point and time. At Tribeca MedSpa our approach to treating acne is highly customized. Whether your acne is caused by high bacteria levels, hormonal changes, stress, or is simply a reaction to the NYC environment, we will customize a medical-grade facial to combat your acne. This treatment will include a deep cleanse, exfoliation, extractions, an antimicrobial laser and a detoxifying mask that will help draw out impurities and prevent periodic or ongoing breakouts. Many people opt to add a chemical peel to enhance their results.

Unfortunately, acne can be persistent. It is estimated that approximately 80% of men and women between ages 11-30 will develop acne and one out of five of them will develop acne scarring. Having a skin analysis with one of our expert providers is the most important step towards having clearer skin.

What causes acne?

Acne is an inflammatory skin condition and can present itself in many different forms, including papules (patches of bumps that hurt to the touch), pustules (legions of pus-filled acne), nodules (large legions that extend deep into the skin) and cysts (deep, painful welts). There are four different causes of acne:

1. Acne, including white heads, black heads and pimples, can be the result of your pores becoming clogged with excess sebum (oil) and dead skin cells.

2. Hair follicles clogged by oil and become congested, causing signs of acne to pop up.

3. Bacteria can cause inflammatory regions of the skin to occur. This is often a common cause of adolescent acne as the number of bacteria on the skin surface increases during puberty.

4. Inflammation on the cellular level can cause normal levels of sebum in hair follicles to oxidize, resulting in red, irritated and acne-prone skin.

Is adult acne common?

Yes, very common. Both men and women see unexpected breakouts, texture changes or pigment changes as stress hormones, hormone changes with aging, and estrogen and testosterone levels fluctuate. Many women say their skin is never the same after a pregnancy and the hormone surges that go along with the experience.

What treatments can help with acne scaring?

Acne scarring is very common. While an anti-acne facial is an excellent preventative treatment for ongoing acne concerns, there are other effective treatments for minimizing acne scarring. Depending on your skin type, scarring severity and concerns, a number of treatments may be recommended including Fraxel, Microneedling, Chemical Peels, and more.

What is maske?

Maskne is a skin condition that causes increased amounts of acne from wearing masks throughout the day. With extended mask use, the skin becomes dehydrated and unable to regenerate, leading to increased sebum production.

What other ways can I correct my acne?

Why Tribeca Medspa is so well-known for effectively treating acne is due to the abundance of treatments available and how we strategically combine those treatments to address your acne.

How often should I receive an anti-acne facial treatment?

Typically every 4 weeks, depending on your skin type and severity of acne. The skin cells turn over occurs every 28 days; this is the time it takes your skin to naturally renew itself. In addition to the aesthetic monthly benefits of receiving a facial, having a monthly check-in with a Medical Aesthetician also ensures your skin is getting the attention it needs and the best treatments to preserve healthy skin.

During an initial complimentary consultation, your provider will review the best skincare routine and treatment plan for optimal results.

What should I know before receiving this treatment?

There is not much to know before your facial appointment. Before the appointment, your provider will ask a series of questions to ensure you’re getting the ideal treatment plan for your skin. They may ask about skin sensitivities, allergies, your current at-home skincare routine and more in order to determine what skincare products and treatments to recommend.

We advise not exfoliating the day before your treatment, as this will be performed on a deep level (if needed). Please avoid sun exposure a minimum of 48 hours before your treatment.

What should I know after receiving this treatment?

This treatment is designed to combat the residual effects of acne over time; more than one session may be recommended to achieve optimal results.

What at-home skincare products are effective for treating acne?

During your complimentary consultation with one of our expert medical aestheticians, they will recommend medical-grade anti-acne products to include in your skincare routine.
