While this past summer may feel like a distant memory and next summer like a far-off dream, it’s never too soon to start thinking about your summer body. In fact, during the cold New York City winter, it is the best time to start working towards your body goals, especially if you’re considering complementing your lifestyle and exercise efforts with non-surgical body contouring treatments.
While weight loss—both through exercise and dieting—is certainly effective in helping you get the body you want, it can only take you so far. Non-surgical body contouring treatments like CoolSculpting can intensify and accelerate your results by getting rid of stubborn fat in targeted areas, leaving you more ready that even before to slip into your swimsuit!
Merve Aykanat, Medical Aesthetician, and Master CoolSculpting & CoolTone Specialist at Tribeca MedSpa advises her clients, “If you want a kickstart with your journey, let’s do CoolSculpting to address stubborn areas and understand that setting realistic expectations is key.”
What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting body contouring technology uses the process of cryolipolysis to freeze and destroy 15% to 20% of the targeted fat cells on the abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, underneath the buttocks, upper arms, under the chin, and jawline area – for both men and women, as well as for all skin types.
The fat layer is slowly cooled to the target temperature of 30.2- and 39.2-degrees Fahrenheit. While there is no damage to the surrounding skin or tissue, the cold temperatures cause fat cells to break down and ultimately die. Throughout the weeks and months following treatment, the body’s lymphatic system eliminates the dead fat cells.
CoolSculpting patients love the fact that this treatment offers a non-invasive alternative to fat reduction procedures with no downtime when compared to more invasive methods like liposuction.
Although CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss procedure, it is an effective method of reducing fat cells in stubborn spots that are hard to treat with diet and exercise alone. Ideal candidates are already close to their goal weight, but still have localized areas of unwanted fat.
CoolSculpting Treatments in the Winter Months
Even though you can benefit from CoolSculpting at any point throughout the year, we recommend scheduling your treatment in the winter for several reasons.
First, CoolSculpting results are gradual. You may start to see improvements within the first few weeks following treatment, but the optimal results may take up to 3 months to see. Individual results vary and depend on your metabolism and your lymphatic system. The most transformational results can take time, so it is best to schedule this treatment when you are not in a time crunch and can give your body the time it needs to maximize results.
Secondly, in some cases CoolSculpting treatments can also cause redness, swelling, and bruising in the targeted areas, all of which you can more easily conceal during the colder months. In general, bruising and other side effects are typically minimal and are due to the suction pressure created by the CoolSculpting applicator. The abdominal area is the most common treatment area for bruising to occur.
And lastly, depending on your goals and customized treatment plan, a series of treatments will be needed, four to six weeks between each session. Some treatment areas require 3 or more treatments to see results. By starting a CoolSculpting treatment plan in the winter, you give yourself the time needed to heal and rid itself of the stubborn fat cells before the warm temperatures return.
Cellulite and Fat Reduction Services to Complement CoolSculpting
On its own, CoolSculpting is an effective way to eliminate stubborn areas of fat. But as part of your customized treatment plan, your medical provide may suggest pairing it with a complementary treatment or treatments to meet your aesthetic goals, such as:
· Cooltone for Enhance Muscle Definition
Brought to you by CoolSculpting, Cooltone uses Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS) technology to stimulate strong muscle contractions. This helps strengthen, firm, and tone the muscles in the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. Ideal for patients usually have a body mass index (BMI) under 30.
For best results, we recommend a series of four treatment sessions scheduled twice a week for two weeks. Patients may start to see results in as little as two weeks, with full results in four to 6 weeks.
· WarmSculpting with SculpSure
WarmSculpting uses hyperthermic lasers to heat and destroy up to 24% of the targeted fat cells on the abdomen, hips, inner and outer thighs, back, and under the chin.
Over the weeks and months following treatment, the destroyed fat cells are removed by the body’s lymphatic system. A minimum of two treatments scheduled at least six weeks apart is generally recommended to achieve the best results. You may start to see results as early as six weeks, with full results 12 weeks post-treatment.
Like CoolSculpting, WarmSculpting provides a non-invasive alternative without the risks and costs associated with more invasive options like liposuction or surgery. It can be confusing to understand which treatment may be best for you, which is why we always recommend starting with a complimentary body consultation with one of our medical providers.
