What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a fat-reduction treatment for men and women who want to get rid of stubborn pockets of fat in trouble spots such as the abdomen, flanks, or under the chin. upper arm, bra fat, back fat, and under the buttocks. CoolSculpting is NOT a weight loss procedure, but a nonsurgical alternative that has little to no downtime.
How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting’s fat-freezing technology delivers controlled freezing of fat cells. This process is known as cryolipolysis. Fat cells don’t like the cold and at a certain temperature they will freeze. Once that happens, your body will naturally eliminate the dead cells over the course of several months, resulting in up to 20%-25% reduction of fat in a treated area.
What areas can CoolSculpting treat?
Visible bulges under the chin and jawline areas, thighs, abdomen and flanks, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks, and upper arms.
Is CoolSculpting safe?
CoolSculpting has been cleared by the FDA to effectively treat nine different areas of the body. Clinical trials have demonstrated CoolSculpting to be safe and effective in reducing fat in certain areas.
What is the process like?
Your Coolsculpting provider will apply a clear gel pad to the treatment area. This creates a barrier between the cooling panel and your skin.
The CoolSculpting system includes a selection of noninvasive, tissue-cooling applicators controlled by a precisely engineered monitoring system. The applicator will be placed on the treatment area and there will be a slight sucking sensation as it adheres to your body, followed by that signature cooling effect. During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb.
During the treatment you will be able to relax and read, answer emails, or talk with a friend.
After the applicator is detached, your provider will do a brief massage on the area to break up the treated fat cells and enhance the fat reduction.
How long does a CoolSculpting treatment take?
Each CoolSculpting treatment is different depending on which area(s) of the body are targeted, but at minimum will take at least 30 minutes. If you opt to do multiple treatments in a session, expect to spend more time.
How many CoolSculpting treatments are needed?
While you will see up to a 20-25% fat reduction in the treated area after a single treatment, it depends on the person and the area being treated. Your provider will work with you to determine if additional treatments are necessary to reach your desired goal.
How much does CoolSculpting cost?
That all depends on what areas you treat and how many treatments you have. Many patients choose to do CoolSculpting on multiple areas to reach their ideal result. Typically, average cost is between $2,000 and $4,000 per session. Your expert provider will discuss your specific costs after a full consultation based on your concerns, time commitment and body goals.
Is CoolSculpting worth it?
Clinical studies demonstrate that the CoolSculpting treatment provides noticeable, measurable fat reduction in 1-3 months post-treatment.
Are there any side effects to CoolSculpting?
Most patients experience little to no downtime after treatment. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment. Rare side effects may also occur. Please discuss these with your CoolSculpting provider.
How do I know if I am a candidate?
Ideal candidates for the CoolSculpting treatment are relatively fit but have some modest-size fat bulges that are not easily reduced through diet and exercise. They are seeking spot reduction for specific areas of fat but are not considering a surgical procedure. The CoolSculpting treatment is not a treatment for weight loss, and it is not a substitute for invasive methods such as liposuction.
Who should not receive CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is contraindicated in patients with cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.
