Skin Cancer Awareness Month

Conveniently located to serve New York City, Tribeca, and The Upper East Side

For those of you who don’t know, today starts the beginning of Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with over two million people diagnosed annually. Although it is the most common, skin cancer is also one of the most preventable forms of cancer, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

The number one cause of skin cancer is UV radiation from sun exposure. Some less common causes of skin cancer include exposure to UV radiation from tanning beds, constant exposure to X-Rays, and exposure to certain chemicals.

Below is a list of Tribeca MedSpa’s most popular sunscreens, allowing you to stay safe and healthy while having fun in the sun!

TMS Approved Sunscreen

  • Camille Cosmeceuticals Oil Free Sun Screen– This SPF 30 sunscreen not only protects the skin but it also hydrates with its unique formula of Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid. This quick absorbing sunscreen is oil free and fragrance free, so it won’t leave your skin clogged or feeling greasy.
  • PCA Weightless Protection– Like the name suggests this sunscreen is extremely lightweight and has an SPF of 45. The sunscreen is also broad-spectrum, so it protects against both UVA and UVB radiation. This sunscreen absorbs quickly and is great for all skin types, especially those with oily or acne prone skin.
  • SkinCeuticals Physical UV Defense– This broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 blocks and reflects the sun’s rays. It also has a universal tint, so it’s especially great for those who want light coverage or have uneven skin tone. This sunscreen is also water resistant.
  • MDSolarSciences Quick Dry Body Spray– This aerosol spray is especially great when on the go. This SPF 40, broad spectrum spray quickly absorbs into the skin and is water resistant for up to 80 minutes. It is also non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog the pores. It’s particularly great for restless kids waiting to jump into the ocean!
