Prevent and Protect

14 May 2019

Summer is just around the corner, ladies and gentlemen! As the months get warmer, it’s time to dust off our sunglasses and store our coats out of sight. It’s also time to make sure we are prepared for the beach days, the vacations and the glaring sun. Here are Tribeca MedSpa’s tips and tricks for staying safe in the sun!

1. Include an antioxidant in your daily skincare routine. Pairing an antioxidant serum with your sunscreen creates the perfect duo to combat sun damage. Topical antioxidants not only have anti-aging properties, but they can also reverse existing sun damage while preventing any future damage. Antioxidant serums allow your skin to soak up the nutrients it needs to protect itself against free radicals and other molecules that cause damage to the cells. Antioxidants also stimulate protein synthesis which accelerates cell turnover, correcting any existing sun damage. Typically, an antioxidant should be applied to the skin after cleansing and toning, but before any serums or creams. Stay tuned for a post all about Tribeca MedSpa’s most recommended antioxidants.

2.Avoid prolonged periods of sun exposure whenever possible. Although sun exposure is harmful at all times of the day, all year long, the sun’s radiation is strongest during 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Look for a shaded area to stay and wear a sunhat or baseball cap to reduce direct exposure to your face.

3.Wear Sunscreen! It’s extremely important to make sure that your sunscreen is broad spectrum, which is designed to protect your skin against both UVA and UVB radiation. We recommend an SPF of 30 of higher. Applying your sunscreen 30 minutes prior to sun exposure ensures that your skin is prepped to combat the sun’s damaging rays. It is also necessary to reapply your sunscreen every two hours, or as the specific product directs. We suggest keeping a small bottle of rose water on you, that way you can cleanse the skin between applications rather than slathering on layer after layer. Sunscreen plays the vital role of preventing sun burn, which can double a person’s risk of skin cancer, particularly melanoma, over time. Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring!

08 April 2019

Now that spring is underway, it’s time for “spring cleaning mode” to officially kick in. Well… our “spring” cleaning may have come a little early this year while Tribeca MedSpa was being renovated, but what has spring cleaning looked like for you? Is it decluttering your office? Cleaning out your closet? Purging through your child’s old toys? While cleaning all those spaces definitely makes us feel accomplished, let’s admit it… it’s easy to neglect the one thing we carry with us every single day. Our skin!!!

Whether you’re a skincare fanatic or just dipping your toes, the turn of the season is one of the most important times of year to check in with your skin. The transition from winter to spring can be a shock to the skin, causing dryness, dullness or irritation. The harsh winter may have taken a toll on your complexion and now is the perfect time to revive your springtime glow.

Tribeca MedSpa’s Dry Skin Repair treatment is the perfect restorative fix. It starts with dermaplaning, to manually exfoliate dead skin cells, revealing a layer of fresh, healthy new ones. This first step leaves your skin soft and bright, allowing for cosmeceuticals to penetrate and renew the skin more effectively. Next, we treat the skin with a light chemical exfoliation to revive the skin from within, revealing a healthy, vibrant appearance. Lastly, the treatment includes a biocellulose mask to soothe the skin and intensely hydrate. This cooling mask leaves your skin dewy with an immediate glow.

One of Tribeca MedSpa’s most popular treatments is the Laser Retexturizing Treatment, which combines dermaplaning with laser genesis to instantly transform dry, dull skin. The treatment begins with dermaplaning to mechanically exfoliate dead skin cells, revealing a brighter, smoother complexion. Then, the newly revealed cells are treated with laser genesis to stimulate collagen production, refine pores, diffuse redness and even skin tone. With no downtime, this treatment reveals a vibrant complexion and immediate, natural glow.

Prevent Premature Aging

05 October 2018

First and foremost, we all know how important it is to treat your skin right. Forget all the products with harsh chemicals and ingredients that just end up clogging your pores, or even dehydrating your skin. At Tribeca MedSpa, we emphasize the importance of a customized skin regimen, tailored to what your skin needs; after all, no two skin types are the same.

There are many skin treatments that help maintain skin’s youthfulness, health and glow. One of the most popular treatments among both men and women is our Laser Retexturizing Treatment. This treatment combines a deep exfoliation with a rejuvenating laser session. The most common methods of exfoliation are dermaplaning and vibradermabrasion, both which remove any dead, dry skin cells. This exfoliation is followed by Laser Genesis, which eliminates fine lines and wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin tone. This laser stimulates collagen production, promoting vibrancy and combating premature aging. The combination of treatments makes a perfect pair since the exfoliation allows the laser to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin, revealing a rejuvenated, healthy appearance and texture.

Using the right products can do wonders to prevent signs of premature aging such as wrinkles, sun damage and a dry, dull complexion as well. Lately we have been loving LifeLine Skincare to combat signs of aging. LifeLine uses a unique combination of concentrated peptides and growth factors derived from non-embryonic stem-cells to create products that will reveal a brighter complexion, while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. LifeLine’s products also prevent dehydration while promoting firmness and tightness of the skin. Check out LifeLine’s Day Serum, Night Serum, Eye Cream, Neck Cream and Exfoliator here.

Lastly, there are many precautions to take at home to fight the signs of premature aging. Click here to read about how the foods you eat can affect your skin and aging process- we all know, you are what you eat!
