Antioxidant Serums

17 May 2016

One of the most important steps of your skincare routine is often one of the most overlooked: using a topical antioxidant treatment. Antioxidants can not only stimulate collagen production, revealing a more youthful and taut complexion, but they also play the vital role of preventing sun damage. In honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, here’s a list of Tribeca MedSpa’s most loved antioxidant products.

TMS Approved Antioxidants:

SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF  This antioxidant serum shields cells from environmental damage by penetrating to the deeper layers of the skin. This product also promotes collagen production, causing a more radiant, firmer complexion with daily use. Phloretin CF should be applied in the morning only.

SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic This antioxidant serum protects skin against photoaging, while also stimulating collagen production. This serum should be applied in the morning and will reveal lightened, brightened and tightened skin with continued use.

SkinCeuticals Resveratrol B E– Unlike the others, this antioxidant should be used at nighttime. This serum neutralizes free radicals, protecting and strengthening the skin’s natural defense system.

• Obagi C-Clarifying Serum- This serum’s unique formula of Hydroquinone and Vitamin C is perfect for reducing pigmentation and promoting even skin tone. This product is available for both Normal to Dry skin types, and Normal to Oily skin types.

Pairing an antioxidant serum with your sunscreen creates the perfect team to defend your skin against sun damage. Read all about Tribeca MedSpa’s favorite sunscreens here.

Double Defense

10 May 2016

Summer is just around the corner, ladies and gentlemen! As the months get warmer, it’s time to dust off our sunglasses and store our coats out of sight. It’s also time to make sure we are prepared for the beach days, the vacations and the glaring sun. Here are Tribeca MedSpa’s tips and tricks for staying safe in the sun!

1. Include an antioxidant in your daily skincare routine. Pairing an antioxidant serum with your sunscreen creates the perfect duo to combat sun damage. Topical antioxidants not only have anti-aging properties, but they can also reverse existing sun damage while preventing any future damage. Antioxidant serums allow your skin to soak up the nutrients it needs to protect itself against free radicals and other molecules that cause damage to the cells. Antioxidants also stimulate protein synthesis which accelerates cell turnover, correcting any existing sun damage. Typically, an antioxidant should be applied to the skin after cleansing and toning, but before any serums or creams. Stay tuned for a post all about Tribeca MedSpa’s most recommended antioxidants.

2.Avoid prolonged periods of sun exposure whenever possible. Although sun exposure is harmful at all times of the day, all year long, the sun’s radiation is strongest during 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Look for a shaded area to stay and wear a sunhat or baseball cap to reduce direct exposure to your face.

3.Wear Sunscreen! It’s extremely important to make sure that your sunscreen is broad spectrum, which is designed to protect your skin against both UVA and UVB radiation. We recommend an SPF of 30 of higher. Applying your sunscreen 30 minutes prior to sun exposure ensures that your skin is prepped to combat the sun’s damaging rays. It is also necessary to reapply your sunscreen every two hours, or as the specific product directs. We suggest keeping a small bottle of rose water on you, that way you can cleanse the skin between applications rather than slathering on layer after layer. Sunscreen plays the vital role of preventing sun burn, which can double a person’s risk of skin cancer, particularly melanoma, over time. Skin Cancer Awareness Month

01 May 2016

For those of you who don’t know, today starts the beginning of Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with over two million people diagnosed annually. Although it is the most common, skin cancer is also one of the most preventable forms of cancer, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

The number one cause of skin cancer is UV radiation from sun exposure. Some less common causes of skin cancer include exposure to UV radiation from tanning beds, constant exposure to X-Rays, and exposure to certain chemicals.

Below is a list of Tribeca MedSpa’s most popular sunscreens, allowing you to stay safe and healthy while having fun in the sun!

TMS Approved Sunscreen

Camille Cosmeceuticals Oil Free Sun Screen– This SPF 30 sunscreen not only protects the skin but it also hydrates with its unique formula of Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid. This quick absorbing sunscreen is oil free and fragrance free, so it won’t leave your skin clogged or feeling greasy.
